There are also several islands off the coast of Guadeloupe that have their own unique ecosystems. The whole island is blanketed by tropical rainforest and lagoons. The lagoons are fed by underground springs rather than salt water from the ocean, so their water remains fresh even though they're surrounded by seawater!

There are several peaks around the island, including the Soufriere and Montagnes du Carbet mountains. The Soufriere is an active volcano and the highest peak on Guadeloupe. There are several hiking trails in this area, including one that leads to the summit of Montagnes du Carbet, which is about 2,000 meters high. There are also some great beaches near the Soufriere and Montagnes du Carbet.
