Holidays in Mongolia

Mongolia is an original state that successfully combines the veneration of ancient traditions, the preservation of the traditional way of life with openness to modern trends in development.

Many Mongols remain nomads to this day, raising livestock, living in a traditional yurt, while actively using mobile phones, the Internet, solar panels and satellite dishes, and their children are studying at universities around the world.

Mongolia is suitable for those who want to fully feel like a real traveler and explorer. The tourism industry here is aimed at serving the numerous guests who come to the country for fishing and hunting, participating in multi-day car tours or motorcycle races. 

The state is rich in cultural monuments. The main attraction of Mongolia is its unique landscapes, hills, alpine steppes, rivers, lakes, deserts.

Climate

When planning a trip to Mongolia, you need to remember that the climate here is sharply continental. The temperature in summer is above 30 degrees, and in winter it drops to -40. The tourist season in the country opens in May and lasts until October. The peak is in June and July.

Transport and visa

Everyone does not need a visa for a tourist trip. It is necessary to purchase medical insurance and car insurance if you plan to tour the country in your car.

There are many ways to get to Mongolia. Established air and rail links. The main destination is Ulaanbaatar. Within the country there are also domestic flights, railway communication, intercity buses run. You can drive your own car or rent a car. In the second case, it is better to rent with a local driver.

Accommodation and meals

A high level of hotels and service in Mongolia can only be found in Ulaanbaatar. Five and four star hotels offer comfortable rooms and the required level of service. Their prices are much higher than in other hotels. The main part of the hotels can be attributed to the level of 2-3 stars. But even there you can find a sufficient level of comfort and service. Almost all prices include breakfast.

Outside of large cities, yurt complexes, equipped like campsites, are mainly distributed. They are fully prepared for the reception of foreign guests and have different levels of comfort: from the simplest to the luxury level with a wide variety of additional features. 

Most often, such complexes have their own entertainment program based on local Mongolian traditions. Here you will be treated to national folk dishes, taught to ride local short horses, to shoot from a bow.

In all settlements and cities, you can easily find catering places. The cities have a variety of choices. There are cafes, bars, restaurants not only of traditional cuisine, but also of Chinese, European and even Russian. 

In small settlements, you can always find a canteen where they feed well and satisfyingly. Also in Mongolia, it is not considered shameful to go into the first yurt that comes across. The owner will definitely welcome you and treat you with the best dishes.
