Castle Lednice

An interesting landmark and architectural monument in the Czech Republic is Lednice Castle. It is located on the border of the three countries of Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, in the southeastern part of the country. Not far from the small town of Mikulov, immersed in the greenery of the park, the castle rises majestically on the banks of the Dyya River.

Previously, a Gothic fortress was located on the site of the castle, which was repeatedly mentioned in various documents.

In the 16th century, the construction of the castle began, the appearance of which changed, but still survived to this day. Initially, the building was created in the Renaissance style, but after a series of reconstructions it was endowed with Baroque features, and in the middle of the 19th century - neo-Gothic. The Gothic building is included in the Lednice-Valtice complex, and the Valtice Castle also belongs to it.

But you can enjoy not only contemplating the majestic buildings. A huge park stretches from castle to castle, which includes the best traditions of creating landscapes in England and France. This romantic place with the name "Garden of Europe" was created in the 18th century. It is no coincidence that the park was taken under the protection of UNESCO, because it was recognized as the most valuable cultural heritage.

The Gothic castle of Lednice is a sparkling diamond in the crown of the Lednice-Valtian complex. It simply staggers the imagination with various elements of architecture. You feel as if you are in a fairy tale, looking at how the turrets strive to pierce the clouds with their spiers, and the majestic columns support openwork balconies.

Doesn't it feel like you've been here before? Remember your childhood, it was this castle that served as the backdrop for the good old movie "Three Nuts for Cinderella". The interior decoration of the building is also striking in its luxury. It is possible to describe all this for hours, but it is better for everyone to find themselves in the Hunting Hall, the Chinese Cabinet, the Blue Hall, and other internal buildings and appreciate all the sophistication of the castle.

Sets in a romantic mood the park surrounding the medieval castle. You can admire the rapid run of the icy river Dyi. It is worth visiting other buildings on the territory of the complex. The palm greenhouse of the 19th century will reveal to you a huge collection of tropical plants, the Temple of Apollo, the Temple of the Three Graces, the National Museum of Agriculture will not leave you indifferent to this cozy corner of the Czech Republic.
